General Information

Who am I?

My name is Scott Swanson; I am the Strategic Technology Coordinator at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, IL.  I am the lead of the Strategic Technology group, which is part of Information & Technology Services.

I am also an alumnus from the Class of 1990, the second graduating class from the institution, and have been an at-large member of the IMSA Alumni Association cabinet since 2005.

What do I do?

Among my primary day-to-day functions are the management of internal and external relationships relating to our vision of the use of technology as a means to furthering the mission of the Academy.  I also work with implementing and expanding our vision of the use of technology for learning, partnering with the Instructional Technology Designer to bring technology into the classroom in the most effective way to benefit learning possible.  I am responsible for our strategic and emerging technology initiatives such as the one-to-one tablet computing project and Second Life.

In addition, I teach Intersession courses, advise student inquiry, lead a section of Sophomore Navigation, perform secondary functions to support the institution, and have a variety of research projects on the back burners. I also perform various tasks in support of alumni outreach, both as staff and as an alumnus.  I also sponsor some extracurricular activities.
