It is
late Fall, 1957. The
members of the school board of Central High have been called on by
their fellow citizens to close the school rather than "submit" to
integration. A public vote will be taken at the next board meeting.
That meeting
is two days away.
What should this parent say at that
meeting ?

Central Character:
A
parent of
a student at Central High,
and a member of the School Board of the city of Little Rock, Arkansas.
They are part of the World War II generation, and a life long member of
the community. The "family business", which traces its roots back over sixty years, is a lumberyard.
