10th Anniversary Events Overview
August 26, 1996 Convocation
Alumni, Faculty, Staff and Students will join together before and after the ceremony to revisit past discussions of the IMSA community and how it has evolved over the past ten years.
September 7, 1996 10th Anniversary Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel, Chicago
Black tie fundraising event. Honorees will include Governor Jim Edgar, Former Governor James R. Thompson, Dr. Carl Sagan, and Dr. Leon Lederman.
September 21, 1996 IMSA Family Day Sponsored by the Parents Association, this will be an opportunity for families of IMSA students to meet IMSA's faculty and staff, and meet and visit with one another.
September 28, 1996 IMSA Homecoming Alumni will be invited to "come home" for a dinner and soccer game at their high school alma mater.
October 16, 1996 Founders Day Celebration/Thompson Leadership Lecture IMSA Founders, Dr. Leon Lederman and Former Governor James R. Thompson will be guest speakers at this program. A reception in their honor will follow the program.
November 15, 1996 IMSA State Scientific Literacy Education Conference A conference for newcomers to Illinois' Scientific Literacy Network.
December 10, 1996 Touching the Future Lecture Series III Dr. Edward 'Rocky' Kolb, 7:00 p.m., IMSA Auditorium
March 8, 1997 10th Anniversary Community Concert Celebration Musical program for students, families, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the Academy, featuring IMSA student performers at the Paramount Arts Center, followed by dinner at Walter Payton's Roundhouse in Aurora.
April 12, 1997 IMSA Aurora Arts Open House A day for the Aurora community to visit IMSA, enjoy the artwork of Illinois artists, and participate in a presentation of the artwork of Artist in Residence, Elizabeth Gil-Lui.
April 19, 1997 IMSA Community Picnic A picnic for the whole community sponsored by Parents Association.
May 31, 1997 Graduation
June 14, 1997 IMSA Alumni Open House and Reunion
