Well, let's see. How did I get here? I used to be a west coast type guy,
but now I seem stuck in the midwest. I started at the
University of Washington
shortly after being born (in geological time, anyway) and then went on to
the University of California at Berkeley
where I earned a doctorate in bridge
. And all that time my advisor thought I was doing math!
After all that excitement, I went looking for even more extreme adrenaline highs by trying to find a job. Failing miserably at that, I took up being an electronics sales associate (read: guy in tie who hawks printers and stuff) at OfficeMax while satiating my desire to teach by volunteering at the Pacific Science Center .
But a year later, the folks at IMSA
decided to permit me to teach for real. So I joined the
math department
here in the fall of 1994, and they haven't been able to get rid of me yet.
I like it here very much, although the weather in the Chicago area just
isn't as nice as it was in San Francisco.
Now you're thinking, "that Fogel guy is pretty cool. How can I get in touch with him?"
